Week 13 Game Day At A Glance | The 58th Labour Day Classic presented by The Mosaic Company

It’s a game that needs no introduction and the 58th chapter in a historic rivalry you won’t want to miss! It’s the second of three matchups between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this season and we need Rider Nation to remind them who the loudest fans in the league truly are. The Roughriders are coming off their second bye week of the season and riding high after a statement win against the B.C. Lions in Week 11. Kickoff for the 58th Labour Day Classic presented by The Mosaic Company is at 5 p.m.

However, you’ll want to be in your seats nice and early for this one as we have THREE CT-155 Hawks flying over Mosaic Stadium and a member of the Canadian Armed Forces singing the national anthem. Our BIG Canadian Flag will also be out to mark this BIG game.

Coors Light Party in the Park gets going at 2 p.m. and fans can step up and test their moxie with the return of the Labour Day Watermelon Eating Contest. If games are more your style, try your arm at Dodgeball and Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge (IYKYK) your way to the top. Participation includes a FREE retro dodgeball shirt.

Alongside our usual family friendly line up of games, inflatables and face painting, take a few minutes to catch up with quarterback Trevor Harris and linebacker Justin Herdman-Reed who will be signing autographs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the northwest side of the park.

The Gecko Band Vallarta will be rocking on the stage all afternoon, with additional performances from the 620 CKRM Rider Cheer team, 620 CKRM Rider Pep Band and DJ Tolley T.

And speaking of can’t-miss performances, Saskatoon rockers The Steadies will perform at halftime for the final Pepsi Summer Concert Series. The Steadies were a 2022 Grey Cup Festival Riderville favourite with their ‘island rock’ style music, which the band describes as Top 40 mixed with rocksteady and reggae influences. Led by Earl Pereira, a founding member of Wide Mouth Mason, The Steadies perform at over one hundred festivals and clubs internationally every year and now return to Mosaic Stadium.

Happy Hour(s) will be in effect across the stadium (from gates open until kickoff) and in Coors Light Party in the Park (from 2 p.m. until kickoff)! Fans will be able to purchase $5 domestic draft beer from all concession locations and $5 355ml cans in Pil Country and Party in the Park. Please note, this offer does not include craft beer, speciality beer or tall cans.

With more than 32,000 seats sold and the game trending to a sellout, fans should consider entering the stadium early to enjoy Happy Hour(s), catch the flyover and remember to bring their items in a clear bag to ensure smooth entry into the stadium.

Week 13

A well-rested Roughrider squad will be rolling into Labour Day this Sunday, after a strong 34-29 victory the B.C. Lions. Quarterback Jake Dolegala earned his first win as a starter with an impressive 239-yard, three touchdown game. Canadian receiver Samuel Emilus also provided some high-flying receptions on his way to his first 100-yard game.

Roughriders’ linebacker Larry Dean continues hold command of the field, with a sack and four defensive tackles (including two for a loss) against the B.C. Lions. The savvy vet continues to move up the CFL all-time defensive tackle list – currently sitting 32nd overall with 529 tackles. Dean is also currently third in the league with 64 tackles this season.

Two Roughriders were honoured for their August play this week, with defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II and kicker Brett Lauther both making the CFL/PFF All-August Team. Lanier II has four sacks and nine defensive tackles in his last three outings, while Lauther has made 13 straight field goals, or 22 straight kicks if you include converts.
