One Classic Event
We're back on the ice for another feel-good showdown, but with a full retro Rider twist this time around. On January 31, 2026, current players, alumni, and special guests return to Merlis Belsher Place for an afternoon of nostalgia, big laughs, big goals, and big heart! All in support of our Win with Wellness youth presentations across Saskatchewan.
Team Captains
and Coaches
Two retro squads, four big personalities, and one very green bragging-rights battle. Brett Lauther and Kian Schaffer-Baker line up on one side of the ice, with Chris Getzlaf and Ajou Ajou leading the charge on the other.
Back-to-back Winter Classic champs. Brett brings the clutch energy and Kian brings the playmaker flair. Together they are calling the shots, setting the vibes, and chasing a three-peat.
Last year’s defending champs. Chris brings the veteran touch and Ajou adds pure chaos in the best way. Expect bold line changes, big celebrations, and a lot of chirping from this bench.
More than a game
it’s a full rink takeover
From kids ripping around the concourse to fans grabbing photos with the Cup, Winter Classic is wall-to-wall action before, during, and after the final buzzer.
The Cup is making an appearance at Winter Classic. Line up, smile big, and grab that bucket list photo with one of the most iconic trophies in Canadian sports.
Mini games, activities, and surprises to keep the smallest Rider fans busy between whistles. Bring the crew. They are not sitting still all afternoon.
Gainer in the crowd and Rider Cheer on the rails bringing the energy all game long. Big smiles, loud cheers, and pure Rider vibes from warmup to final horn.
Grab your friends, grab a player, and grab a prop. Our photo booth is ready for retro jerseys, fun poses, and frame-worthy Winter Classic memories.
Meet current Rider players, Roughrider alumni, NHL alumni, and celebrity guests signing posters, jerseys, and whatever Rider green you bring from home.
Explore interactive stations, games, and giveaways from Roughrider Foundation community partners all around the rink. Lots of ways to play, win, and give back.
