Week 6 Game Day At A Glance

Saturday July 15th – kisiskâciwan Game, Presented by SIGA

After taking down the Edmonton Elks at Mosaic Stadium in a nail-biter last week, the Riders remain at their home turf as another West-Division rival, the Calgary Stampeders, roll into town. In a thrilling Week 3 showdown in Calgary, a pivotal interception by Nic Marshall in double overtime sealed a 29-26 win for the Green and White over the Stampeders. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

This week our kisiskâciwan Game, presented by SIGA, returns as we immerse ourselves in a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture within our province and community!  We will have engaging Indigenous performers and talented artists join us for an unforgettable day of pre- and post-game activities!

We have a special giveaway item this week, a t-shirt designed by Indigenous artist Christine Marie with help from Nicole Sheetka. “Using the Roughriders colour theme to symbolize a message of connection and harmony. Seen and felt through the beaded florals connected by stems, leaves. As we actively work towards reconciliation, each part needs one another to grow and flourish,” Marie said of her beautiful design.

With only 5,000 available, fans will want to be at the gates when they open at 3:30 p.m. to secure their shirt!

Coors Light Party in the Park opens at 2:00 p.m. with another fully loaded lineup of performers and activities. There will be an Indigenous art and beading showcase, where artists will teach fans how they bead and create their own pieces.

Local cover band DETOUR will perform on the Coors Light Stage in what is sure to be a unique show! With a sound that ranges from soulful blues to upbeat pop and everything in between, there will be something for every music aficionado.

Get ready to quench your thirst with ice-cold $5 domestic beers at Party in the Park and inside the stadium until kickoff!! Grab a brew, a couple of friends, and make every moment of game day count!

LEGEND ALERT! Two beloved Roughrider receivers will sign autographs in Party in the Park! The Riders’ all-time receiving yards and touchdowns leader, Ray Elgaard, will be in house! Joining him is none other than Joey Walters, the Riders record holder for single season receiving yards. These iconic figures have both earned their rightful spots in the prestigious SaskTel Plaza of Honour, with Walters paving the way in 1990, followed by Elgaard in 1999. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to meet these football greats!

Round 2 of the Rider Cornhole Tournament will also be in the park as we get one step closer to crowning a champion at the end of the season! Face painters, balloon artists, festival hair artists, and inflatables will also be present, providing something for every type of fan!

During pre-game, Phyllis Littletent and the Kawacatoose Boys Singers and Dance Troupe will be putting on a traditional performance on the field to set the tone for the evening!

Then, prepare to be captivated during halftime as World Champion Hoop Dancer Terrance Littletent and the Kawacatoose Boys will perform on the field. This extraordinary display of skill and art is a can’t miss moment!

Following the game, fans are invited to come down to the field, offering a chance to seize memorable photos from an entirely new perspective. Don’t miss out on this post-game experience that will only happen a few times this season! Fans can access the field using the stairs by Pil Country.

Week 6

In last week’s gritty win against the Edmonton Elks, several Riders had key performances that helped the Club squeeze out a 12-11 victory.

Quarterback Trevor Harris was awarded the highest grade from PFF of any quarterback in Week 5 with a grade of 88.2, the sixth highest grade given to a player this season. He now ranks third in the league with 1,159 passing yards and six touchdown passes in four games, including seven completions of 30+ yards.

Wide receiver Mitch Picton received the highest PFF grade (75.0) out of all CFL receivers in Week 5 after recording four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown, including hauling in a 39-yard reception on a deep pass in the second quarter.

Offensive lineman Colin Kelly, Logan Ferland, and Brandon Council were named top performers as PFF awarded the Riders the highest offensive line unit grade of Week 5.

Two defenders earned awards from PFF in last week’s victory: Linebacker Larry Dean and defensive back Nic Marshall. Dean earned PFF’s run defender of the week honours after logging eight tackles against the run and 90.8 run defence grade, by far the highest mark in the league. Marshall recorded his second consecutive game-sealing interception to secure the victory against the Elks enroute to being named PFF’s coverage player of the week, with a grade of 82.6.

Defensive lineman Micah Johnson was wreaking havoc all game, generating five pressures and three quarterback hurries to earn a PFF pass-rush grade of 79.9, the third highest in the league.
