Week 5 : Game Day At A Glance

Friday July 8th — kisiskâciwan Game, presented by SIGA

The Green and White bounced back in a big way during last week’s rematch against Montreal and will look to carry that momentum into Friday’s showdown against the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

Our kisiskâciwan Game, presented by SIGA, is meant to celebrate Indigenous culture and will start with the Kawacatoose Boyz of Kawacatoose First Nation, a group of traditional drummers who will perform pre-game. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for our 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Get to your seats early so you don’t miss a minute of this special performance.

The anthem singer this week will be fan favourite, Teagan Littlechief from White Bear First Nation. Teagan was named Sask Music’s Indigenous Artist of the Year in 2022.

The Pepsi Summer Concert Series continues with a halftime performance from a family band with a big heart, The North Sound. Self-described as “dusty country rock,” The North Sound was formed in 2014 by Forrest Eaglespeaker and is supported by his partner Nevada Freistadt. The band was created as a way to share stories, keeping true to Forrest’s Blackfoot identity and traditions from Treaty 7 Territory. The North Sound has had four singles reach number one on the Indigenous Music Countdown as well as Saskatchewan’s MBC Radio, and won Sask Music’s Indigenous Artist of the Year award in 2021.

Don’t forget to pop into the Rider Store to get your special kisiskâciwan otêhtapiwak t-shirt, which is Saskatchewan Roughriders in Cree. It’s available in men’s, women’s and youth sizes and proceeds will support projects for Indigenous youth across our province led by the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation.

The loaded pre-game slate of events also includes our fully licensed Coors Light Party in the Park! The fun-for-all-ages event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will have inflatables, face painting, a balloon artist, appearances from the 620 CKRM Cheer Team, the Coors Light Stage with DJ Tolley T and so much more!

 Reminders:

Your phone is your ticket! Don’t forget to download the Rider App, powered by SaskTel, onto your smartphone and have your digital tickets ready before you come to Mosaic Stadium. We promise it’s easy, but we created a tutorial video here and have a full FAQ and written tutorial at Riderville.com, just in case!

We’re in the clear. The Club has moved to a clear bag policy for all Saskatchewan Roughrider games in 2021 and beyond. Each fan, including children, can bring in one clear bag sized 12” x 6” x 12” or smaller. More details on the clear bag policy can be found here.

In transit? Whether you arrive at the stadium on four wheels or two, there are options available! The bike valet opens at 5:30 p.m. on game day and is staffed by volunteers through REAL. The bikes are inside a fenced compound that is monitored throughout its hours of operation. Please note that your bike must be picked up within one hour after the game ends.

In addition, Rider Transit presented by WorkSafe Saskatchewan is back! That’s right, free guest bus transit is available from various locations across the city (Southland Mall, University of Regina, Warehouse district, the Delta Hotel, Victoria Ave and Scarth Street) and at a NEW north end location: The Turvey Centre, starting two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff time.

Week Five:

Through four weeks, running back Jamal Morrow leads the CFL with 257 rushing yards. That yardage is not only a reflection of how well Morrow has played early in the season, it shows how strong the offensive line and fullbacks have been in the run game.

Coming off another dominant game last week, defensive lineman Pete Robertson continues to lead the league with seven sacks. Fellow lineman Anthony Lanier II recorded three sacks against Montreal to vault into second place in the CFL with five sacks.

Defensive back Nick Marshall intercepted a pass and took it 90 yards to the house for his fifth career pick-six, putting him in first place in Roughriders history for interceptions returned for a touchdown.

Kicker Brett Lauther hit a 57-yard field goal last week, which is the longest field goal made so far in the CFL this season by five yards.
