The Riders welcome the Als on a special day

Montreal Alouettes (0-2-0)
at Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-1-0)
Saturday, 7 p.m., Mosaic Stadium
CKRM, TSN

THE FORECAST: Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30-per-cent chance of showers and a high of 24 C during the day. The evening is to include showers and a low of 12 C.

THE LOWDOWN: The Roughriders are coming off a 40-17 loss to the host Ottawa Redblacks on June 21. Montreal lost 56-10 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on June 22 … The Roughriders have a 5-5-0 record in their past 10 meetings with the Als. But Saskatchewan is 4-1-0 in its past five home games versus Montreal … The Als have lost a club-record 13 games. A defeat Saturday would tie the Shreveport Pirates for the third-longest losing streak in CFL history … This is the Humboldt Strong game, which is being held to honour the SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos, the community of Humboldt and first responders who helped after the April 6 bus crash that killed 16 people and injured 13 others.

THE RIDERS’ ROSTER: Quarterback Brandon Bridge is set to make the third start of his CFL career. He’s 1-0 as the Roughriders’ starter, having guided the team to a 27-19 victory over the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sept. 15 … Bridge starts in place of Zach Collaros, who sustained a concussion in the loss to Ottawa. Collaros has been placed on the six-game injured list, so Devin Gardner has been added to the roster as Saskatchewan’s third-string quarterback … Marcus Thigpen, who missed the first two games due to a league-imposed suspension, returns to the roster and joins Tre Mason as the Roughriders’ international tailbacks. Thigpen is to start, with Mason and national Jerome Messam as his backups … Saskatchewan’s receiving corps comprises the same starting lineup as one week ago. Shaq Evans and Josh Stanford are the wideouts, with Caleb Holley, Naaman Roosevelt and Jordan Williams-Lambert as the slotbacks … The Roughriders’ offensive line once again features Thaddeus Coleman and Terran Vaughn as the tackles, Brendon LaBatte as the left guard and Dan Clark as the centre. But Dariusz Bladek has taken over the job as the starting right guard, supplanting Jarvis Harrison … Saskatchewan has a new look on the defensive line, where newly signed Mic’hael Brooks starts at tackle alongside Zack Evans. Makana Henry and Eddie Steele will be part of the rotation … Charleston Hughes and Willie Jefferson remain the starting ends, with Tobi Antigha, Chad Geter and Jordan Reaves as the backups … Brooks takes the roster spot of Curt Maggitt, who goes to the practice roster … The starting linebacking corps remains the same, with Sam Hurl in the middle and Sam Eguavoen and Derrick Moncrief on the outside … Converted receiver Duron Carter starts again at boundary cornerback. The rest of the starters in the secondary remain the same, with Jovon Johnson at corner, Crezdon Butler and Ed Gainey at halfback and Mike Edem at safety … Punter Josh Bartel, long-snapper Jorgen Hus, kicker Brett Lauther and returner Christion Jones remain the special-teams stalwarts … Thigpen takes the roster spot of linebacker/defensive end Eric Striker. Linebacker Alexandre Chevrier replaces a fellow national, fullback Albert Awachie, on the roster.
