John Chick named CFL’S Top Defensive Player

The Saskatchewan Roughriders congratulate John Chick, who was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player earlier this evening in Calgary at the Gibson’s Finest Player Awards.

In his third CFL season, Chick started 16 games at defensive end and recorded 32 defensive tackles, 11 quarterback sacks, four tackles for a loss and two fumble recoveries. The 26-year old was also named a West Division all-star this year.

The last Roughrider to win Outstanding Defensive Player was Jearld Baylis in 1993.

Chick received 34 of 55 first place ballots.
