Riders Sign Stand Out Clemson Receiver Artavis Scott 

RIDERS SIGN STAND OUT CLEMSON RECEIVER ARTAVIS SCOTT 

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American wide receiver Artavis Scott.  

Scott (5’11-195lbs) joins the Roughriders after signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL Draft. Scott spent the better part of three seasons with the Chargers, primarily on the practice roster before moving on to the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. Most recently, Scott was on the Houston Texans’ practice roster. 

Scott was a standout receiver for the Clemson Tigers, earning All-ACC receiver honours in all three of his collegiate seasons. He finished his career with the most receptions in program history (245) for 2,458 yards (10.0 avg.) and 19 touchdowns (fifth in Clemson history) over 43 games. He was a National Champion in 2017. 

An immediate impact player, Scott made a team leading 76 receptions for 965 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman, including 185 receiving yards and two touchdowns in in the Palmetto Bowl against South Carolina. He was a Second-Team All-ACC selection, named first-team freshman All-American by USA Today, 247Sports.com and ESPN, second-team freshman All-American by Athlon and Scout.com and named one of the top 10 freshmen in the country by SI.com.  

The 26-year-old built on his strong freshman season, becoming his team’s leading receiver as a sophomore with 93 catches for 901 yards and six touchdowns and earned first-team All-ACC honours. As a junior, he made 76 receptions for 614 yards and five touchdowns. He was named second-team All-ACC, and the Tigers’ Special Teams Player of the Year on route to the National Championships. A strong special teamer, Scott made 39 career kick returns for 925 yards – including a 77-yard return in the National Championship game – for an average return of 23.7 yards.
