Tim Kearse may not have had an illustrious pro football career compared to some – but it is better than most peoples.

In fact, it was good enough to get him inducted into a couple football hall of fames.

The York, PA native lit it up at quarterback during his days at William Penn Senior High School and had an outstanding, record-breaking receiver career at San Jose State University. For his efforts, Kearse was recently inducted into both schools’ Football Hall of Fames.

"It was somewhat shocking, but also a real honour for me to be chosen for this recognition," said Kearse, now in his fourth season as receiver coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. "When you look at some of the guys that went to our high school, Woody Bennett (Jets and Miami), Brad Carr (Ottawa and Pittsburgh), it makes me feel like a tadpole versus a whale.

"These were guys I looked up to and they made me proud to wear the orange and blue (of William Penn)," he added. "Then guys like Chris Doleman who had a lengthy career in the NFL with the Vikings came up behind us."

At San Jose State, Kearse is enshrined alongside NFL veterans Stacy Bailey (Atlanta Falcons), Gil Byrd (San Diego Chargers) and Gerald Willhite (Denver Broncos), as well famed coaches Bill Walsh and Dick Vermeil.

Kearse said the memories he has from his high school days are filled with joy as he recalls the fun and excitement him and his teammates took into each game.

"It was a terrific time back then and it really is an honour to be remembered for what I went on to accomplish," he said.
