YEARS WITH ROUGHRIDERS: 4

YEARS IN CFL: 4

2023: Started four consecutive games (the Roughriders’ sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth contests of the season) before being sidelined by a hamstring injury. After starter Trevor Harris sustained a season-ending knee injury in the fourth quarter of a July 15 home game against the Calgary Stampeders, Fine threw back-to-back, rapid-fire touchdown passes — including a 69-yarder to Tevin Jones that helped the Roughriders assume a one-point lead with 36 seconds remaining. On July 29 against the Toronto Argonauts in Halifax, Fine threw for a career-high 302 yards. He followed up on Aug. 5 by registering 296 aerial yards in a 26-24 home-field victory over the Ottawa REDBLACKS — his first victory as a CFL starter. He finished the 2023 season with 94 completions in 136 attempts for 1,043 yards, with three touchdowns and five interceptions. His completion percentage of 69.1 led the team.

PRO: Fine signed with the Roughriders in December 2020 after an accomplished collegiate career at North Texas. He spent most of the 2021 season on the practice roster before seeing his first game action on Nov. 20 in Hamilton, going 5-for-9 for 64 yards. He was then the Roughriders’ No. 2 quarterback in two West Division playoff games. In 2022, Fine dressed for 17 games and started two. Over the 2022 season, he completed 67 of 102 passes for 690 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

COLLEGE: Threw for 12,505 yards — 30th in NCAA history — with 93 touchdowns and just 39 interceptions over 49 games and four seasons at North Texas. He graduated as the school’s All-Time leader in passing yards (12,505), touchdown passes (93), passer efficiency (140.68), completions (1,039), attempts (1,655) and 300-yard passing games (18). He was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Star quarterback in 2017 and 2018. He had joined the Mean Green

FAST FACT: Fine starred at Locust Grove (Okla.) High School, throwing 71 TD passes as a junior and 53 as a senior.
