The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to announce the Canadian Football League has released its complete 2016 schedule.
This year’s schedule has the Saskatchewan Roughriders opening their regular season at home on Thursday, June 30th. The regular season opener will see the Riders welcome the Toronto Argonauts to Mosaic Stadium on Canada Day weekend for an 8:00PM kick-off.
“We are excited to officially release the 2016 schedule,” stated Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “It is a challenging process for the league trying to create a competitive balance while taking into consideration each markets availabilities along with the broadcast needs. They should be commended for their efforts.
The Roughriders’ regular season home schedule has them playing at Mosaic Stadium on Thursday (one game), Friday (one game), Saturday (five games) and Sunday (two games). Each team will visit Regina once, with the B.C. Lions being the only team to visit twice.
The Roughriders’ away schedule has them playing on the road on Thursday (one game), Friday (four games), and Saturday (four games). They will visit each team once and visit Edmonton a second time.
“There will be a lot of exciting times ahead in 2016 as we say farewell to Mosaic Stadium,” added Reynolds. “Together we will reflect on generations of memories as we experience the last home opener, the last Labour Day Classic and finally, the last regular season game at Mosaic Stadium.”
Once again the Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the traditional Labour Day Classic on Sunday, September 4th for a 1:00PM local kick-off time.
The Roughriders final regular season home game at the storied Mosaic Stadium will take place on Saturday, October 29th at 5:00PM versus the B.C. Lions.
