COLLEGE: James spent four seasons (2021-24) at Mercer University. He appeared in 45 games, registering 171 receptions for 3,364 yards and 30 touchdowns, averaging 19.7 yards per catch. He exceeded 1,100 receiving yards as a junior and senior, earning All-Southern Conference recognition both seasons. He was recognized nationally as Mercer’s first consensus All-American and as a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award. He left Mercer as the school’s all-time leading receiver, holding eight school single-game, single-season and career records — including a 351-yard, two-touchdown game against Samford in 2022 when he set the Southern Conference’s single-game receiving yards record. He also broke the Mercer record for receiving and all-purpose yards in a game. 

FAST FACT: James is the first Roughrider from Mercer University (based in Macon, Ga.).
