Kyle Carson has completed his 14th season in the CFL and is entering his seventh with the Roughriders — 2025 Grey Cup champions.
After two successful years in Green and White, Carson was promoted to Assistant General Manager. He added the title of Director of Player Personnel after the 2025 season.
On March 25, 2026, Carson was part of a Roughriders front office that received the CFL’s inaugural Ted Goveia Football Operations Award.
Carson joined the Riders during the 2019 off-season as the Director of Player Personnel after spending the previous eight years with the Calgary Stampeders.
He was hired in Calgary as an intern in 2012 before serving as the Scouting Assistant and Coordinator of Football Operations. John Hufnagel later promoted Carson to Scout and CFL Draft Co-ordinator. The Stampeders made it to five Grey Cups, winning twice, during his time with the team.
Currently, Carson works closely with Jeremy O’Day and Paul Jones and plays a key role in evaluating and acquiring talent on both sides of the border. Some of his responsibilities include negotiating contracts, coordinating the club’s CFL Draft preparation, scouting NFL training camps as well as NCAA All-Star games, and overseeing the club’s scouting staff. He also assists O’Day with free-agency planning and negotiations and helps to manage the club’s negotiation list.
Carson played for the BCFC’s Victoria Rebels before joining the Canada West ranks and suiting up for the University of Calgary Dinos. While at the University of Calgary, he earned a degree in Communications. He was born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, and grew up in Nolensville, Tennessee.
