John Murphy is in his third season as Saskatchewan’s assistant vice-president of football operations and player personnel. The 2018 season will be Murphy’s 14th campaign in the CFL.
Prior to joining the Riders, Murphy worked for the Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was with the Stampeders during their 2008 Grey Cup-winning season, was the Bombers’ director of player personnel in 2009, and then returned to Calgary in 2010. The product of Merrick, N.Y., then spent five seasons as the Stampeders’ assistant general manager and director of player personnel before being hired by the Roughriders.
In Saskatchewan, Murphy handles all player personnel-related matters, including the CFL draft as well as free-agent identification and evaluation across Canada and the United States.
