The Northern Saskatchewan Football League (NSFL) was created to encourage participation in sports and provide youth with the critical skills they need for their future. 91% of Canadian children and youth are not meeting recommended physical activity levels. Youth participating in competitive sports programs are more likely to eat healthily and weigh less, and are less likely to be bored or hopeless.
When our youth struggle, our communities struggle. Mental illness affects one in five Canadians, and is closely linked with social isolation, poor quality of life, and increased mortality. By giving youth the opportunity to participate in sports, we’re helping better our communities for the future. 72% of Canadians believe that sport is a key contributor to quality of life in their communities.
The NSFL provides youth in the north an opportunity to be involved in a sport that provides more than skills but rather leadership, teamwork, friendships and community pride.
