Ed Philion is entering his fifth season as a CFL coach and his second with the Roughriders.
Philion, who hails from Essex, Ont., began his coaching career in 2013 with the Toronto Argonauts before spending the 2014 and ’15 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos.
Before getting into coaching, Philion played 127 games over eight CFL seasons as a defensive tackle with the Montreal Alouettes. He recorded 38 sacks and four East Division all-star nods during his CFL career.
Philion also spent three seasons with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.
He is a two-time Grey Cup winner, earning a ring as a player with the Als in 2002 and one as a coach with the Eskimos in 2015.
