Pivots and prospects: Roughriders ready for rookie camp

The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ rookie-camp roster includes a veteran of 189 CFL regular-season games — a strong candidate for eventual induction in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

So please note that the “rookie” label won’t be universally applicable over the next three days.

Exceptions are made for quarterbacks such as Trevor Harris, who guided the Green and White to a Grey Cup championship in 2025.

Harris and two other incumbent signal callers — Jack Coan and Tommy Stevens — will be on the field from Wednesday to Friday at Griffiths Stadium, limbering up their arms and refining their timing in advance of main camp.

All the veterans will be part of the equation starting on Sunday, when Coors Light Training Camp ramps up at the University of Saskatchewan.

Top performers from the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday sessions will also suit up on Sunday and beyond.

Here is a look at all the newcomers — and a smattering of returnees — as the 2026 Roughriders take their first steps on the field:

OFFENCE

Quarterbacks

#4 — JORDAN McCLOUD (A): McCloud threw for 10,135 yards and 88 touchdowns in four years of college football.

#7 — TREVOR HARRIS (A): 2025 Grey Cup Most Valuable Player enters fourth season with Roughriders.

#10 — BRAYDEN SCHAGER (A): Former University of Hawaii star was on the Roughriders’ practice roster in October.

#13 — JAKE FARRELL: U of S Huskies passer attending camp as part of CFL QB Internship Program.

#14 — JACK COAN (A): Notre Dame’s starting quarterback in 2021 is a third-year Roughrider.

#17 — TOMMY STEVENS (A): Premier short-yardage QB rushed for two touchdowns in 2025 Grey Cup win.

Running Backs

#27 — DARRELL HENDERSON JR. (A): Henderson, who rushed for 1,854 yards and 15 TDs in the NFL, helped Los Angeles Rams win Super Bowl LVI.

#35 — PENY BOONE (A): Boone rushed for 1,300 yards at University of Toledo in 2023.

#71 — CORBIN EBBEN (J): Junior-eligible invitee rushed for 1,188 yards with Saskatoon Hilltops in 2024.

#75 — PETER BOERSCH (J): Amassed PFC-leading 1,436 rushing yards for 2025 Regina Thunder.

Receivers

#00 — ALI JENNINGS III (A): Averaged 19.7 yards per reception over two seasons at Virginia Tech.

#70 — COLLIN BRUNSTEIN (A): 77 touchdown receptions, amassed for Illinois College (Division III), are an NCAA all-time record.

#76 — ABDUL JANNEH JR. (A): Signed new deal with Roughriders in late October after attending training camp in 2025.

#79 — BEN WALZ (J): Starred for Kerrobert Rebels high school team before joining Regina Thunder.

#80 — DYLAN DJETE (N)*: Alabama State pass-catcher was Roughriders’ second-round Draft choice in 2026.

#81 — SHEMAR McBEAN (N)*: Four-year UBC standout was chosen by Saskatchewan in Round 6 of 2026 Draft.

#82 — JAYLEN JOHNSON (A): Johnson played for Los Angeles Chargers against New Orleans on Oct. 27, 2024.

#83 — TYRIE CLEVELAND (A)*: Played in 23 NFL games with Denver over three seasons (2020 to 2022).

#85 — D’SEAN MIMBS (N): Son of former Roughriders running back Robert Mimbs played in four games with Saskatchewan in 2025.

#86 — FREDDIE SWAIN (A)*: Caught 38 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns in 33 NFL games with Seattle (2020-21).

#87 — DANIEL WIEBE (N): U of S star was named 2025 Canada West’s top player after catching 78 passes for 1,275 yards and 13 TDs.

#88 — JUWANN WINFREE (A): Chosen by Denver in sixth round (187th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Offensive Linemen

#50 — YOESPH CARTER (A): Played at Western Illinois and Jackson State before starring at University of Findlay in 2023 and 2024.

#51 — PERCY LEWIS IV (A): 6-foot-8, 380-pounder suited up in 15 games at Ole Miss last season.

#54 — JAISON WILLIAMS (A): Youngstown State grad attended training camp with New York Giants in 2025.

#57 — JEZ JANVIER (N)*: Roughriders’ recent fifth-rounder (47th overall) played at Eastern Michigan and Southern Mississippi.

#58 — DARIUS WASHINGTON (A) Played in four games for 2025 Roughriders, starting at tackle (three games) and guard (one).

#59 — SPENCER BROWN (A): Spent three seasons (2021-23) at Michigan State before transferring to Oklahoma (2024).

#60 — DARIUS BELL (N)*: Selected by Saskatchewan in third round (29th overall) of 2026 Draft, out of East Carolina.

#61 — ERIK ANDERSEN (N): Roughriders’ 2025 second-round draftee, from Western, was named U Sports’ top offensive lineman in 2025.

#64 — DARTANYAN TINSLEY (A): 6-foot-3, 340-pounder played in one NFL pre-season game with Cleveland Browns last year.

#68 — JUSTIN OSBORNE (A): Spent last season with Cleveland after signing with Browns as undrafted free agent.

#69 — THOMAS PERRY: First Middlebury College graduate to play in East-West Shrine Bowl (2025).

#79 — SUNDIATA ANDERSON (A): Among Seattle Seahawks’ final cuts in 2024 after playing in two NFL pre-season games.
