It’s one of the most iconic events in Canadian Sports — and we are getting set to celebrate with the most iconic fans in the game. As Rider Nation prepares to host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium—where seats are quickly nearing a sellout—the stakes are as high as they’ve been in recent years. For starters, thanks to a solid start to the season, and some favourable outcomes like the one last night in Ottawa, the Riders remain at the top of the CFL’s West Division Standings. The one point that separates the Green & White from the blue and gold? Well, we all know where that came from. The battle for the title of ‘Best in the West’ will truly begin when the teams hit the field on Sunday afternoon.
But, it’s not all intense rivalries, and nail-biting gridiron action—the Saskatchewan Roughriders are excited to get fans in on the action with some pre-game festivities that will ramp up the excitement and family-friendly fun well before kickoff! Starting on Saturday, August 31st, with a FREE event: Fan Day – Presented by Capital Auto Group – will give you a chance to meet your favorite players, get autographs and pictures, and enjoy an interactive event that begins at noon on the concourse of Mosaic Stadium. There’s plenty more to take in, including on-field activities like inflatables and games, as well as food vendors—and of course a trip to The Rider Store!
Come game day, the now-legendary watermelon eating contest and local cover band El Guitaro start the day off in proper Saskatchewan style in Coors Light Party in the Park, beginning at 2:00pm! The stars of tomorrow return to pre-game with the Youth Football Showcase presented by Engelheim and Saskatchewan favourites FOGDOG take the stage for the Pepsi Concert Series at halftime, to rock a setlist chosen by the fans!
So whether you’re a “bleed green” member of Rider Nation, or a casual fan looking to cap of the Saskatchewan summer in style, there’s no better place to do it than at Mosaic Stadium this weekend, where the action on and off the field is sure to be classic.
