Saskatchewan Roughriders And Winnipeg Blue Bombers Join Together In Wearing Orange Jerseys For National Truth And Reconciliation Day

To reaffirm our commitment and acknowledge National Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30th, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are proud to work with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers ahead of Friday’s game for a special pre-game at IG Field where both teams will don orange jerseys and sideline staff will wear orange shirts in support of Truth and Reconciliation in the country.

“As we reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we hope that these jerseys will serve as a small symbol of our commitment to reconciliation and the work we’ve done and will continue to do moving forward as allies of the Indigenous community,” said Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds.

The Club and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation have been actively focusing on Calls to Action #87-92 as outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Report which focus on Sports and Reconciliation and Business and Reconciliation.

“The Roughriders’ commitment to Truth and Reconciliation doesn’t just start and end this week. We will continuously work to do better and use our platform to make an impact and focus on amplifying Indigenous voices,” said Reynolds.

To further this work, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation will use the orange jerseys for a raffle which will help fund Indigenous sports programs in the province and special events in Indigenous communities.

The raffle will be streamed live from the team’s locker room and will feature 50 one-of-a-kind autographed jerseys and bonus prizes such as gift cards and community suite tickets for the 2023 season. More information on the raffle will be released following the game on September 30th.
