ROUGHRIDERS SIGN RECEIVER RASHARD DAVIS

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American wide receiver Rashard Davis

Davis (5’9-175lbs) comes to the Club after four NFL seasons. The 25-year-old was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2017, where he spent the majority of the season on the practice roster. He was awarded a Super Bowl ring when the Eagles defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Davis went on to spend time with the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. He suited up for one regular season game for the Titans and made one reception for 16 yards and returned two punts. He also caught two fair catch punts in the wild card game against the Patriots in 2020.

Collegiately, Davis played four seasons (2013-2016) at James Madison University playing in 50 games, earning 1,549 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns and adding 203 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Noted for his return abilities, he fielded 21 career punt returns for 489 yards and earned four touchdowns in a single season (setting a JMU and CAA single-season record) while adding 19 kick returns for 363 yards. In his senior year, the Virginia native also threw one 37-yard pass for a touchdown.

Davis was well-awarded for his strong 2016 season including being named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Year, First Team All-CAA Punt Returner and ECAC First Team All-Star, STATS FCS First Team All-American, Associated Press FCS Second Team All-American, Walter Camp Football Foundation FCS All-American and HERO Sports FCS First Team All-American.

Davis will be moved to the Club’s suspended list while he completes his COVID-19 quarantine.
