LIVE TRACKER: Riders select 2nd overall in 2021 CFL Draft

The CFL Draft kicks off Tuesday night at 5 p.m. SK time on TSN1 and TSN3 and the Saskatchewan Roughriders have the second overall pick.

For insight from Roughriders Vice President of Football Operations Jeremy O’Day, fans can tune into his pre-draft media conference here.

In addition to second overall, the Roughriders will have five more selections

  • 2nd round, 17th overall
  • 3rd round 20th overall
  • 4th round 35th overall
  • 5th round 38th overall
  • 6th round 53rd overall

This year’s draft will look a little different than past years. Instead of the draft order being determined by the standings from the previous season, this year’s order was determined by random draw and will feature a “snake” format. That means that after teams pick in the first round, they will then pick in reverse order in the second round, and that pattern will continue.

Another difference is the Draft will be six rounds long instead of the traditional eight. This is in recognition of the fact that 2021 CFL training camps will feature a “double cohort” of Canadian rookies, with a group from each of the 2020 and 2021 CFL Drafts.

TSN will have the first two hours of the draft and after that, turn your attention to CFL.ca’s Official Draft Tracker and the Roughriders social media (@sskroughriders) to follow along with the subsequent rounds. The Club will also be providing updates through its app.
