SEPTEMBER 6th IS SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDER DAY!

SEPTEMBER 6 IS SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDER DAY!

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are extremely honoured that the Province of Saskatchewan has proclaimed September 6th Saskatchewan Roughrider Day. This very special day, which would have been our annual Labour Day Classic against Winnipeg, will kick off the Club’s 110th Anniversary. The Club is looking forward to celebrating it with Rider Nation, who have been a source of pride, optimism, and joy for us through a difficult 2020.

“The Labour Day Classic is always one of the most exciting games of the year for Roughrider fans across the province. We wanted to find a way to continue to bring the energy and excitement this weekend is known for even though we aren’t able to gather in our traditional way,” said Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “Instead, I’m thrilled that we’ll be able to rally Rider Nation around Saskatchewan Roughrider Day, reminding us all that even apart we remain connected in our love for this team.”

Saskatchewan Roughrider Day will be filled with online events for our fanbase across the province, the country and the world, as well as a very unique, safe and public health approved event at Mosaic Stadium Sunday afternoon.

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., September 6th, we will celebrate Saskatchewan Roughrider Day with a Drive-Thru experience, presented by Capital Auto Mall, that will safely allow us to be together just outside the gates of Mosaic Stadium. This drive-thru event will feature fan favourites from our Rider alumni, prizes and giveaways, prepared autograph cards from current Roughrider stars, Gainer the Gopher and the 620 CKRM Rider Cheer Team.  In addition, there will be activations and giveaways from Rider Partners including Capital Auto Mall, Harvard Broadcasting, SaskTel, Molson Coors, Tourism Regina, Directwest, and J.P Wiser’s (Corby Spirit and Wine). Best of all, fans will be able to attend this event from the comfort of their own cars while all Rider staff, alumni, volunteers and partners maintain a safe social distance, abiding by all COVID-19 safety regulations.

Tickets will be required to attend but are available at no charge. The event will be limited to 600 vehicles (200 per hour) and we ask Rider Nation to please keep your vehicles filled with members of your own household. More information on tickets and our complete safety protocols is available at Riderville.com.

“When people think of Saskatchewan, one of the first things they think of is the Roughriders,” said Premier Scott Moe.  “We are thrilled to celebrate this special day, Saskatchewan Roughrider Day, with all of Rider Nation. The Riders have brought our province together for the last 110 years and I know that will continue for the next 110 years.”

For our fans unable to attend Saskatchewan Roughrider Day in person – and even for those that do – stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for exciting online engagement opportunities, performances from Saskatchewan artists Tenille Arts and W3EAPONS, contests and giveaways including a signed Cody Fajardo jersey.

“This day is really for all of Rider Nation as a way to celebrate the Green and White, but most importantly it’s a way for us to say thank you for all of our fans who have stuck by our side,” added Reynolds. “Next year I am hopeful we will celebrate Labour Day like we always do – by beating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.”
