The Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family of former Roughrider President Gordon Staseson.
A leader in the Saskatchewan sports community, Gordon was a mainstay within the Roughrider organization throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He served as president from 1979-1981, saw the Club through the expansion of historic Mosaic Stadium and created the Plaza of Honour in 1987. He also served as chairman of the CFL Board of Governors in 1982.
Beyond all his operational accomplishments Gordon, quite literally, defined Rider Pride. He was a key contributor to that special theme that all of Rider Nation now embraces.
Gordon was awarded several honours for his community work over his life, including being inducted into the Plaza of Honour himself in 1993. He also received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 2004 and was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2005.
We are so thankful for the contributions Gordon made to our Club and to the larger Saskatchewan community. We know we wouldn’t be where we are today without his vision and his guidance.
