Riders Transactions

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the following roster moves: 

RELEASED

  • National punter Josh Bartel

Bartel leaves the team after six CFL seasons, four of which were with the Roughriders.

In 2018, the 34-year-old played in all 18 of the Roughriders’ regular-season games and in the Western Semi-Final. He made 122 punts for 4,995 yards (40.9 average – 64 long). He added five punts for 207 yards (41.4 average – 46 long) in the playoffs.

Bartel was the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Rookie in 2012, an Eastern Division All-Star in 2012 and 2013 and played in his 100th CFL game this past October.

Before coming to Canada to play in the CFL, Bartel played Australian Rules Football with the Wodonga Bulldogs, Kiewa-Sandy Creek and Murray Bushrangers.
