Riders Sign Remainder of the Draft Class, Add Two National Free Agents

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that national defensive linemen Rory Connop, Tyler Langlais, and Brendon Tennant, fullback Matthew Rea, defensive back Kwamie Adjei, and running back Melvin Abankwah have all signed with the team. As per club policy, details of the contract were not released. 

Connop (6’5 – 282) was selected in the 3rd round (26th overall) after four seasons at Western University. Last season the Edmonton native picked up 10.5 defensive tackles and three quarterback sacks in eight conference games.     

Rea (6’1 – 242) was selected in the 4th round (35th overall) out of Michigan State University. The 23-year-old played three conference games for the Spartans last season.  

Adjei (6’1 – 205) was selected in the 5th round (42nd overall) after four seasons at Mount Allison University. The Brampton, ON native picked up 34 defensive tackles, four interceptions and three quarterback sacks in eight conference games last season. 

Langlais (6’2 – 270) was selected on the 6th round (47th overall) after four seasons at the University of Calgary. The 25-year-old Dryden, ON native was limited to five games last season, picking up 3.5 defensive tackles.  

Abankwah (5’9 – 190) was selected in the 6th round (50th overall) after four seasons at Saint Mary’s University. Last season, Abankwah totaled 534 yards and two touchdowns on 112 carries in seven conference games. 

Tennant (6’2 – 305) was selected in the 7th round (59th overall) out of the University of Laval. The 23-year-old was limited to three conference games last season due to injury, picking up three defensive tackles.    

The Riders also announced the addition of two national undrafted free agents. 

Defensive lineman Tim Agbaje (6’4 – 290) has signed with the Green and White after spending the last two seasons with the University of Saskatchewan. Last season with the Huskies the Edmonton native collected 17.5 defensive tackles and 2.5 quarterback sacks.

Linebacker Nehemie Kankolongo (5’11 – 205) joins the Riders after playing four seasons at the University of Wyoming. The Coquitlam, BC native played 25 career collegiate games, seeing action mainly on special teams.
