Riders sign two

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed non-import kicker Sandro DeAngelis and import defensive lineman Jay Alford. Financial details of the agreements were not released.

DeAngelis (5’9 – 195) is a five time West Division All-Star, three time CFL All-Star and was named Most Outstanding Canadian of the 2008 Grey Cup.  After spending four years at the University of Nebraska, the Niagra Falls, Ontario native joined the Calgary Stampeders for the 2005 season.  DeAngelis would spend the next five seasons in Calgary before signing with Hamilton for the 2010 season and most recently the Montreal Alouettes for 2011.      

Alford (6’3 – 304) returns to the green and white after attending training camp in Regina.  The former Penn State standout spent the 2011 season with the Virgina Destroyers winning the UFL Championship.  Prior to that, Alford spent three seasons in the NFL including the 2007-2008 season in which he won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants.
