Chick Heads South

The Saskatchewan Roughrider Football club has confirmed that defensive end John Chick has agreed to a contract with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.

Chick was named a CFL all-star and the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player this year after posting 32 defensive tackles, four tackles for a loss and 11 quarterback sacks in 16 regular season games.

“While we are very happy for John and wish him the best in this opportunity, we are very sorry to see him leave,” stated Riders head coach Ken Miller. “Without question John was one of the top players in the entire league, but it’s his leadership in the locker room and the countless hours he spent in the community that will be most missed.”

In three seasons with the Riders, Chick dressed in 39 regular season games and recorded 68 defensive tackles, six tackles for a loss and 19 quarterback sacks.
