I know I know I know…we lost this past Saturday.  I know things didn’t go the way we had planned…I get it, I really do.  But in our line of work we either enjoy a victory or dwell on a defeat for 24 hours…and then we move on to the next opponent.  So we looked at the game tape on Sunday, corrected some mistakes and closed the book on Saturday’s game because unless someone can get a hold of Doc Brown to tell him to fire up the flux capacitor and bring his Delorean over to Mosaic Stadium, we won’t be able to do anything about Saturday afternoon.  Unfortunately, a good amount of fans don’t let go of things so easily…which meant I had to answer the following question “What happened on Saturday?!?!?” about 30 times today.  Last week around town people were saying that we had the making of a team that could go all the way and win the big one…but over the last two days I hear that we need to revamp the whole roster because we won’t win another game with the guys we have.  Really? Honestly?  Now I know that not all fans are throwing in the towel yet (I hope not it’s only game #3!) and that the majority of the fans are great at supporting us whether we win or lose but I always find it funny every year that after our first loss some people start freaking out.  I thought our defense played pretty well all game long even though the offense could not give them a breather.  When you go two plays and out over and over again it gets to be hard on a defense.  All I can say is that we’ll go back to work on Tuesday and get ready for Edmonton who’s coming to town Saturday afternoon.

A nice silver lining to this past Saturday’s game was that both my Mom and Dad were in attendance at Mosaic Stadium to watch me play.  I only get to see them a few times a year so whenever I get a chance to spend some time with them it’s great.  They were always very supportive early on in my career when I was bouncing between practice roster and active roster and I thank them for that.  I even took my Mom to the Rider Store the night before the game because she wanted a shirt for the next day (even though she has four already), something I figured would take 15 minutes and we’d be out of there.  An HOUR later, I had to tell her that I needed to get home to review my game notes or else we would have been there until the store closed.  She must have touched every single item in the store and asked me if they could put my name and number on all of them…but I know it’s because she’s proud…love you Mom!  I also got to meet Belton Johnson’s mom this past weekend which was great.  Belton had another post game party Saturday and he will have another one this upcoming Saturday night.  He will actually be hosting a party after every home game and he donates all profits to various charities (Duchene Disease the 1st week and Breast Cancer this past week) so please come out and support great causes while having alot of fun.

I don’t follow a lot of stats during the course of a game but I do know this: if at the end of a game I have a tackle and a fumble recovery it probably means we had a few turnovers.  During one of Cate’s runs, after I had thrown my linebacker on the ground I turned around to see Wes trying to get a few extra yards when someone hit the ball out of his hands (even though the whistle should have been blown).  The ball actually popped right into my hands and I thought to myself “Should I go forward?”…except that by the time I got to “Should I” I was already being hit by four Als…so much for my chance to breakaway and run for a 60 yard touchdown!  I probably would have needed a whole tank of oxygen if that had happened though…and maybe a Blizzard too…and I tell you my friends, I’m not making this stuff up…
