The Saskatchewan Roughriders headed into Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since 2014 as well as wins in consecutive years in Montreal since the 80’s.

Mitchell Gale was making his second straight start in place of the injured Darian Durant, and he was facing a veteran Montreal Alouette defensive front that played in Toronto Monday night.

The Als looked the part of the well-rested team racing out to a 15-0 lead after the first quarter with touchdowns from B.J Cunningham and Sam Giguere.

Not a single beat was missed in the second quarter as Montreal picked up another score on a short Brandon Bridge one-yard run and had the commanding 22-0 lead at the half.

After an almost 30-minute half-time show honouring former Alouette great Ben Cahoon, the Als continued their dominance with yet another score when Kevin Glenn hit Brandon Rutely on a screen pass and the Alouette running back did the rest for the touchdown. After three quarters, the Riders trailed 31-3.

The scoring was finished in the fourth quarter when Raheem Cato completed a 16-yard TD pass to Duron Carter to finish the scoring and give Montreal the 41-3 victory.

Carter had a great game with 115 yards receiving and a touchdown while former Rider, Kevin Glenn threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

For the Riders, Mitchell Gale was 23/41 for 211 yards with Shamawd Chambers leading the way for Rider receivers with 72 yards.

It will be a short week for the Green and White as they head to McMahon Stadium in Calgary next Thursday night to face the Stampeders.
