The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed non-import running back Daryl Stephenson. Financial details of the signing were not released.
Stephenson (6’2 – 225) joins the Riders after spending the last two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Last year, the London, ON native appeared in all 18 regular season games recording six receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns and added two rush attempts for nine yards.
The six year CFL veteran has played 56 career games after originally being selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 3rd round (15th overall) in the 2008 draft. Notably, while with the University of Windsor, Stephenson was awarded the 2006 Hec Crighton Trophy as the Canadian University Football Player of the Year.
The Riders also announced they have released non-import receiver Jonelle Tolbert.
