Riders Add Three Imports

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that they have agreed to terms with import receiver Sinorice Moss, import offensive lineman Johan Asiata and import linebacker Daniel Sheffield.

Moss (5’8 – 185) was a second round pick (44th overall) of the New York Giants in the 2006 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old Miami native played five seasons for the Giants and finished his career in New York with 39 receptions for 421 yards and three touchdowns. He also tallied 495 combined return yards during his tenure in New York. The speedy receiver was also a part of the 2007 Superbowl champion Giants team. While playing for the University of Miami, Moss finished his four-year career with the Hurricanes totaling 68 receptions for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns.

Asiata (6’4 – 300) has spent time each of the past three seasons on the Chicago Bears practice squad following an outstanding career at UNLV. The 26-year-old New Zealand native transferred to the Running Rebels in 2006 after spending his first two collegiate seasons at Yuba Junior College in California. In 2008 Asiata earned honourable mention All-Mountain West Conference after starting all 12 games for the second consecutive season.

Sheffield (6’4 – 210) played three seasons at Troy University. The 24-year-old played safety and linebacker during his time with the Trojans and finished his career with 147 defensive tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 quarterback sacks and one interception. Prior to transferring to Troy, the Georgia native played one season at Garden City Community College in Kansas where he tallied 79 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

•    The Saskatchewan Roughriders also announced they have released import receiver Ernie Wheelwright from the roster.
