Roughriders add to Training Camp roster

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have agreed to terms with import defensive back Willie Byrd, non-import linebacker/long snapper Christian Houle and non-import defensive lineman Ryan Lucas.

Byrd (6’3 – 198 lbs) dressed in four regular season games for the Calgary Stampeders in 2008 where he had three special teams tackles. Later that season, he signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and dressed in the final regular season game and had one special teams tackle. Byrd played four seasons at Miles College and played in the East Cotton Bowl in 2006 and recorded an interception.

Houle (6’3 – 231 lbs) played four years at the University of Montreal where he tallied 106 defensive tackles, seven sacks, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in 28 games. He played in the 2009 East-West Bowl and was a member of the 2005 Team Canada team which won the world tournament.

Lucas (6’5 – 280 lbs) spent the 2007 season and a portion of 2008 with the Montreal Alouettes. In 2007 he dressed in one regular season game at defensive tackle for the Alouettes. He spent three seasons at Western Washington where he had 11 defensive tackles and a quarterback sack in his senior season.
